Golf Tip of the Fortnight
Chip and Run Tip
When you hit low running shots from near the edge of the green, intentionally set the club a little up on its toe and actually contact the ball on the toe. This will do 2 things for you:
- Contacting the ball on the toe gives you better feel and distance control, as the ball comes off the club "dead." When you hit the ball on the sweetspot on these soft "touch" shots it comes off the
club "hot" and makes it very difficult to control the distance the ball rolls.
- Having the toe down presents less surface area of the blade to get caught in the grass, increasing your chances of smooth acceleration and clean
contact.
I work with golfers of all skill levels on all areas of their games (individually or in small groups of friends, family, co-workers, etc.) in my Private Golf Schools.
